Webmaster at Work!

The Rampy Website is dedicated to preserving the Rampy/Rampey heritage.  In addition, the Vannoy Family (webmaster's Mom) is currently being included and expanded.

The surname RAMPY has been spelled many different ways.   In Switzerland, the name was consistently spelled with an umlaut U, and ended with I or IN.   However  in Germany, the U became E or I (RIMPI, REMPI) and the ending might show up as I, IE, E, or Y.  The P was frequently exchanged for a B.

Most of the Rampy descendants can trace their lineage back to a Johan Nicholas Rempi of South Carolina (1764).  Johan arrived at the Port of Charlestown on December 16, 1764 aboard the ship Union. The Rempi family originated in Hafelfingen, Rumlingen and Wittinsburg in Baselland, Switzerland. Christian Rempi left Switzerland ca.1663 and then lived in Ixheim, Zweibrucken, and then in the Meisenheim am Glan area (Pfalz).
